Enjoy the Ride – Kaycee Sogard
On today’s episode CB welcomed Kaycee Sogard as her esteemed guest. Kaycee is a mom, a Major League Baseball wife, and someone who knows all too well about uncertainty. Her life is usually up in the air! But she knows how important it is to keep family at the center of everything, and we could all learn from her example right now.
Kaycee’s husband Eric has been an MLB player for 10 years. So many people assume that being married to a pro athlete is all rainbows and sunshine, but just like anything else in life, it has its ups and downs.
Over the past 10 years Kaycee and her family have lived in:
…back to Milwaukee.
Also over the course of the last 10 years she and her husband have had 3 biological children and adopted 2. That makes FIVE children. Five beautiful blessings. And we know all too well… a very busy, stressful, blissful behind the scenes! Kaycee tells us about the beauty behind their open adoptions and how the #sogardseven gets through it all!
Now that is a LOT to juggle. She admits that she doesn’t do it all alone. Who could?! Their family lives every day in a cloud of uncertainty. Eric could get traded at any given time. There is the family schedule to keep up with and managing that with a husband who plays 162 games in 180 days is next to impossible. But she has learned to embrace it and chooses to make the best of whatever situation they find themselves in.
There are always positives in hard situations. And the one thing that Kaycee and Eric do amidst the crazy business of their lives is sticking to a *1 date per week* regime. It is important for their children to see that they prioritize their marriage as they navigate the waters of their lives as co-captains.
Kaycee shares her life with her followers on Instagram and has a knack for keeping it real. Her stories hit home and are so relatable and her posts help us all find beauty in our every day lives. It has been so inspirational to watch their journey over the past few years, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds. Her advice to all of you reading this is to just “enjoy the ride.” Change is inevitable. Good things come to and end. Bad things come to an end. So just be where you are, and enjoy it!
